Beginning in early 2023 KYTC will conduct focus groups and interviews to understand how different stakeholders are planning to negotiate the more widespread adoption of CAVs. Undertaken parallel to the Interstate 64 CAV Planning Study, this outreach will provide the Cabinet with baseline information on how organizations and industries intend to integrate CAVs into their operations and the transformations these technologies will bring. Focus groups will be wide-ranging. KYTC hopes to speak with automakers, motor vehicle carriers, local transportation agencies, transit agencies, public health officials, emergency management personnel, disability organizations and advocates, non-profits, logistics firms, and others. Based on these conversations, the Cabinet will refine and update its CAV strategy so that it is reflective of and responsive to stakeholder needs. Keeping the CAV strategy up to date will help KYTC deliver more robust CAV-related services to the public.
